So on glasscages they have a good looking 730gal tank (130 x 37 ½ x 36) for $3675 shipped to des moines. Ive looked it up and seen that someone ordered 2 of them and it was nearly 1500lbs and took 10 people to move it. I also looked on the site for a stand and seen that there biggest was almost 40 inches short. Main point of this post is to ask if anyone has ordered LARGE tanks from these guys OR where you guys order large glass tanks from. One question i also have is this would go in the basement on a carpeted cement floor. If the tank is 1500lb and to round the weight up with rock and such, 10lb x gal of water so 7300lb. would my floor support this?

what type of floor are we talking? First floor with a foundation under the carpet, or a 2nd floor with 2x6 or something similar

The basement, im guessing concrete subfloor. Really not sure. We got the house a few months ago and it was bult in the late 50s early 60s. We just replaced the door few weeks ago, looked like it was sitting on cinder blocks.

If its a basement I would assume its a concrete floor and it holds the whole house, never been in a basement so im just assuming lol. But a concrete floor should be no problem at all

It won't work, you'll just have to send it to my house. ;)

Lol your funny.

I assume its a slab, it would only make since. Im glad it will work, the tank would look great with 3000 neon tetras! lol this tank is a LONG ways away in planning stage, dont have 10k that i would need to set this up. Has anyone ordered large tanks online before?

That's a very large glass tank, I don't think they make them much bigger? Have you looked into acrylic? Just a thought. Acrylic is stronger, lighter, and, clearer than glass. Most very large tanks are made of acrylic.

The basement slab can hold that weight easy.

The site i was on only has acrylic upto 400ish sadly. I dont think they have em much bigger unless you have them custom build you something. I would gladly take acrylic 700 since it would be a TON lighter, almost litterly. I really have no idea what i would put in there... hell. I dont know how i would filter that... i would need 10 fx5's lol

Wouldn't that be a great problem to have? "darn I just don't know how to filter my new 700 gallon tank" LOL Yeah I can only dream.

Check out Tenecor.com for that larger acrylic tank your dreaming about.
