730 Gal glass tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hopefully the floor is concrete. Concrete that is poured 4" thick has a crush point of 3000lb per sq. inch roughly. So most likely you would be fine. Check out Tenecor acrylic tanks for the price that glass tank is gonna cost you, you can probably get almost the same size in acrylic shipped.

Check my blog www.giantfishtanks.blogspot.com . And most basement floors are pitched towards the drain, I would make sure it was level to put a tank that big on the floor.

My jaw dropped when i seen some of those tanks, speachless. I wont be able to get a tank like that tell my father passes and we sell the house (makes me sound mean) but the house we live in right now is finished, so the only place with a slope is in the wash room and if this ever did happen, i would put it in the liveing room down stairs. Guess that means we wouldnt be able to rent that out. Only other place this type of godsend tank could go would be in the upstairs, and i dont know if the floor would hold it. Im going to check the blog in a few seconds.

Great link! I was looking for something like this! How does it get updated? Do you do some kind of search on CL and update it your self?

For a good deal in a large tank I would drive 500 miles or so to pick it up. Living in Phoenix I'm always looking in California (LA, San Diego, ect.) for tanks as well as the Phoenix area.

If you are on concrete you are fine. It should be at least 4000psi concrete for code anyhow. so that weight isn't that much

I would also go acrylic.. I had a 240 gallon all glass aquarium.. until a guy helping me moved it just dropped the corner with no warning..
I know some people have huge glass tanks, but I'd rather go smaller (if I had too) and get acyrlic..

It took four guys to move the glass 240 (from glasscages, also), and it was hard work. Then I got a 300 gallon acyrlic.. My wife and I can move it with no straining at all.. It's incredibly light in comparison, and if wife drops it, it won't break, preserving our marriage :)

Check out these guys too. They do good work and ship. I am not sure how much they would charge for your dream tank.. http://www.midwestcustomaquariums.com/

Bro...you will be fine......just make sure if floor is pitched to level tank.....concrete standards for basement floor is 6 inches of concrete at 3000psiand thats on a 4 inch floor. And chances are there is wire mesh or rebar in the floor too..So you will be fine!!!! I poured concrete for a living and there will be no problems, except of course getting that giant down there!!!!! These days concrete slabs are usually poured at 6000psi or greater.

Hope ya got a walk out basement door!!!!

Why not a DIY plywood tank?

not that skilled, plus no tools. lol.

Our basement has a door that goes to the backyard, thank god it doesn't have a stairway like the one i grewup in.4

I do think i will go acrylic, it would be nice to move it by a few people not 10+

No ideas wtf i would stock it with, but im sure if the time came and i got this, stocking it wouldn't be a problem. Anyone know where i can get 10,000 neon tetras?
