thanks pharaoh, ok so I'll look into acrylic then! plexiglass has the tendency to warp I guess, right?
and for silicone, what did you use GE-012A?

Just buy whatever they have at the hardware store. Acrylic will warp when used as a lid, but I haven't had any problems when it is submerged.

Just used good old window and door silicone from the hardware store.

ps what do you guys use (and its thickness) to make wall chambers in a sump-plexiglass right? I think home depot carries some...

I used 1/8" glass sheets I bought (cut) from my local hardware store. Since there's very little pressure on it, it doesn't need to be very thick. I found it to be cheaper and easy than using acrylic, although you have to be careful not to cut yourself on the edges of the glass (unless you have the edges sanded or sand it yourself).

Agreed. Silicone bonds to glass, not acrylic.

Silicone will bond well enough to acrylic to use it as dividers in a sump. I just find its easier to use glass, as well as cheaper. Although its hard to trim glass to fit if you mis-measured...
