75 gal breeding ides?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't keep a breeding pair of Trimacs in a 75. May work while young and small but as they approach adult size things could go bad. These fish are large and can be aggressive. A pair of Salvini is a good option. i have a pair of Rainbow Cichlids in a 75 with a large school of mollies. They are beautiful fish but if you are seeking aggressive fish, they may not be for you. They don't bother their smaller tankmates.

green terrors are a little more common than i was hoping, but i think they would also work well and are pretty/big enough for what i'm looking for. But i definietely havn't settled on them yet. What about one of the smaller parachromis? a loisellei, motaguense, or a friedrichsthalii? I feel like those might have the same problems as a pair of trimacs would though...

haha, i actually already have a pair of rainbows right (they're great) now, and salvini are really cool, but i'm looking for something a little bigger. maybe in the 8-10" range. I guess i should mention that this isn't my first time breeding cichlids or having larger cichlids. It's just my first attempt at breeding larger cichlids.

i would go with grammodes there great fish but i think a 75 might be a bit tight, although they can quite slow growers so you could get away with it for quite a while until you were able to upgrade or sell them
