Hey all, I am interested in turning my 75 gal into a freshwater predatory tank. I've been looking at bichirs, needlefish (though I don't like the beak breaking on glass) and other "scary looking" fish. I'd be ok with it being a single species tank, but it'd be cooler to keep a couple aggressive creepy fish in there. The fish would have to be comfortable in a 75 gal for at least a year, til I can upgrade to a 125.

Any ideas!? thanks!

Oh also, I have already considered Oscars, but am more interested in something that is more oddball-ish, or foreboding . Teeth showing or grotesque is always a plus lol

AFRICAN PIKES! theyre like mini tiger fish but with bigger teeth for their size, and they max out around 15 inches. also they have incredibly good personalities but if u wanna get more than one get atleast 4 or else theyll fight

Datnoid's are predators :). But they dont show their teeths.

Get a shoal of cudas! Acestrorhynchus falcirostris imo, or you can mix it up with some red tails. If you like teeth then i suggest you look more into the characin family.

Yea I checked out the datnoids, and ctenopomas, but was more interested in something that will make my girlfriend shake her head while im jumping in the background for joy! lol

I checked out the characins, but everything I was reading was that a 75 gal would be too small for them and they need absolutely pristine water conditions, and as good as i am ;) (jk) I wouldn't want to kill off the fish. But I do love payaras.. if only i had a huuge tank

Also African Pikes are very hardy and easy to feed they eat almost anything alive (besides tankmates, they are very docile towards other fish that arnt feeders).
