Can you please qualify this statement...

As I have read that the largest known Oscar was 16" and was caught in
Lake Okeechobee... I've seen some huge Oscars in my days but nothing over 14"...

if you live in NY, go to 125th street on covenant ave i think, there are few 18 inches oscars that i have never seen before. Other than that, the second largest oscar i've seen was 8 inches.

So you've heard there are 18" Oscars at a pet store in NY but you've never seen them...?

And if the second largest Oscar you've ever seen was 8"... how big was the largest...

If you misworded yourself and actually did see the ones in New York... and there are "a few" then the second largest you've seen was in that group...

No offense but your loosing creditability in your claims

But to keep it on topic... Oscars should be expected to get between 11~13" in home aquaria...

thats how big i thought he would get is 12-13 inches and with the tank being 18" wide he has plenty of room in there.. and as far as adding another o thats why i tried to vent him is so i can get him a mate possibly but i may decide against this.. thinking more along the lines of the acara and sev.. i like the green sevs they look cool.. so i may go with this stock list

You have lots of room in a 75 for more than 1 oscar, You could get more oscars. J dempseys, convicts, would go good. Oscars aren't mean, they will just eat anything that fits in its mouth, I'd worry about putting to of a aggressive fish with the oscar. How bout a geophagus or a jurupari. Good luck but get more fish, 1 oscar would be boring. you have plenty of room.
