THANKS!!

I have a grass mat for live bearers....It is fake, and can be found at the local pet giant...

i would try to get maybe some floating plants as well i have found for them to work extremely well but thats just my opinion

p.s. good luck with the breeding

Two words for you- java moss. Since you've mentioned livebearers, the moss will provide the fry with a place to hide.

In about 12 months you are going to need something to feed all of them to! I haven't been a member here for long, but I dont recall ever seening a post where the overstock police have said "You have too many guppies in that tank!". I guess we'll have to wait and see! :j/k:

I am not sure how much, but from what I have heard livebearers like a decent amount of salt. (not just mollies) someone please correct if I am wrong.

You could also send them to school http://www.r2fishschool.com/Home_Page.html

Salt can definately be beneficial.....helps keep disease at bay, but too much and the fry die young......or the adults wont breed!!

The salt can hurt the fry if there is too much. If you are breeding I would not add salt.

i agree, i actually tried the salt once before it was fine for a while and then after a couple weeks i actually noticed the fry i had been raising was significantly reduced to less than 10% and only 6 still remain, all of the others died either within the first two days or died when i had moved them realizing the mistake i had made

i agree with the java moss it does allow a place to hide but since you only have community fish in there it is not likely you will lose to many of the fish and worst comes to worst you will still have way too many...

you should not reach a point where there are too many though for a couple of reasons, you will get tired of looking at so many freaking fish (yes there is a point where there i s just too many), and i someone please tell me different but i have experienced the fish either stopped reprodcing at a certain point i am guessing due to the simple reason of the lack of space

my tank carrying guppys might be half the size of yours but after a certain amount of time and constant babies popping out, they had reached a limit and i am sure yours will reach that point as well

something you might want to think about for the community tank that is not too small but definitely you might like are the raspboras and smaller fish like cardinal tetras...

pm me if you have questions about nething i said or if you want an idea for some other fish, but the fish you have in there a great way to start a community
