Would you have any idea where you could get a pickerel?Have you ever considering the temperatures? Esox species do best in cool temperatures.

a bowfin would get way too big for a 75, and quickly too. same with gars. no go.Why not a gar, they love warm water ? or a Bowfin ?
as a side note....if you live near a pond or lake, you should try collecting some grass pickerel yourself. I do believe they have populations in Michigan. cheaper than buying them...believe me...I'm planning out my 75 gallon and I want to do a Redfin or grass pickerel... Maybe both lol. But I also want to do a catfish or three and I am not certain what kind... Any ideas?
How big is are those fish currently? Got some picture?your only real options in a 75 for a cat are as stated above with madtoms or stonecats. I have a madtom I caught locally in my 55 stream tank and I'd be extremely nervous putting him in with my grass pickerels. My biggest is pushing 9-10" and I know right now he'd love a madtom lunch lol.
If you are deadset on catfish with your pickerel I'd say if you can get a slightly larger tank, like 100 gals or so and go with a bullhead. They don't get massive, and would do well with your pickerel. Mine has been with me since I got my first 55 gallon, and is now comfortably in my 310 with my crappie, pumpkinseeds, grass pickerel and one big channel cat that at some point soon is going to eat the entire tank haha.
which ones? the pickerel? the one is as stated around 9 or 10", the other is approx. 6" currently. He just got moved to the big boys tank so he should show significant growth quickly. How big is are those fish currently? Got some picture?
they have room to get to decent size, believe me. They are growing steadily. temperaments are fine. the crappie are completely docile, the p-seeds squabble every now and then but nothing bad. The pickerel hang together most of the time and the bass does his own thing.Ha I was wondering how big a crappie would get in a tank. How are their temperaments?
