  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 350 watt heaters. I use 1 250 watt heater for my 150 gal. But i have a wife that keeps my house 75 degrees all winter long so my heater doesnt seem to be on very often tank runs 80 to 82 all the time. Summer i only see it on at night.

I am using Aqua Terra black sand. I did rinse the sand before putting it in there and I haven't changed any water yet. I really didn't want to hear that-I just put in 200 sum gallons of water in 3 days ago.

break out the python and do a couple water changes!

Your killing me! My water quality is perfect right now and I would hate to change it. I might deal with the cloudiness until this weekend. I guess there is no other way around it though.

well water changes are an inevitability anyway.

Well my tank has been setup for 4 days already. I put most of my fish in there including 2-18" Eels today. I now have those 2 big Eels, 2-10" Motoro Rays, 5-3 inch Pikes, 1-5 inch Datnoid and 2-3 inch Clown Loaches. My Nitrites and Nitrates are STILL AT ZERO!!! I think alot of it should be credited to the 16 oz bottle of Stress Zyme and 40 lbs of EcoComplete gravel. I am excited about this-I have always had a fair amount of Nitrates in all my tanks. If my water quality stays like this that would be incredible but I won't get my hopes up that high just yet.

3 days isn't long enough to cycle a tank and sump from what I understand. that seams to me to be a pretty good bioload for a un-established system. I am not an expert by any means on this but from what I have learned is you need alot longer to establish a working system to handle the load. the bio portion basically is non existnt yet. like I said I aint no expert but thats my understanding

Day #6- Nitrites and Nitrates are still at zero even after all of the fish I added. Water quality is close to perfect except the hardness which only r/o water would cure.
