  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pops pops what is your feeding schedule for your Oscar.
5 times a week for all of them, Thursday and Saturday are no feed days, Friday is protein night, jumbo freeze dried krill soaked in Boyds Vita-chem over night. this is why water changes on Saturday.

If your water parameters are good, your filtration is good, unless your proposed new filters are going to consume less energy, or bring some other cost saving, no need to fix something that ain't broke, my 2c worth....

I would agree with that jwh, I think the filtration you running now is fine, you have enough as is and you have redundancy, when it comes to heaters and filtration redundancy is a good thing encase one goes down.

I can not think of anything you are doing wrong. Actually I think you are dead on the money. But I would change about 75% water. But it is just a preference thing.

Guru, your tank is awesome!

Just to make sure i read this right, you vacuum your tank daily? How to vacuum with sand, just hold it a few inches above it?

Dude your tank is spot on. No need to waste money on an fx6 (very over rated imo) your filtration is fine.

How the heck you get your rapheal to grow ? Have a spotted for about 1.5 yrs not much growth

Sorry it took a bit to get back. I vacuum daily with Eheim quick vac. I think that's what it's called. Does change out water, had a filter n sucks out debris. I use pool filter sand and I lose a little sometimes if I get the hose to far down but not a big deal. For the most part I just keep it right above the sand though.

Actually the Raphael was already that size when I got him. He was traded in a local store. Looked a little rough when I got him but he is doing well now. Assuming he is pretty old. I wait till the lights have been out for a while to feed him also so the Oscar doesn't get it all

Thank you Guru was curious how people did that with sand, this was the reason I was debating on using sand. Thank you for the response!
