75 gallon question

I agree with the others, I believe a 75 gal is too small for an Oscar. To me it's only large enough for a convict or 2 and some appropriate dithers, and I also agree SDs would be too large for that size tank.

SD's do need a lot of space, I wouldn't want to house them in a 75g unless I had to. They will just be bouncing off the walls in fear.

i disagree I currently have 3 redhook silver dollars at 6inches plus and a common goldfish 4 inches in a 50 breeder and they eat from my hands The redhooks imo are not as flighty but it could be I just got lucky with mine. My tank is in a high traffic area and they pretty much ignore what goes on out side the tank on weekly water change days the biggest redhook will try to bite the python.

Many people have full grown Os in 29gal........it doesn't mean its adequate

Personally I would not keep an Oscar, or a group of SD's in a 75 gallon tank, for the same reasons already stated.

oI think an Oscar is doable solo silver dollars no I currently have some that are 3 inches in 4 foot tanks and they will be moving into a 6 foot tank soon just because of how active and skiddish they are. But I have done the single Oscar In a 75 gallon of you get a large canister and a large hang on back filter and you do weekly or twice a week 50 percent water changes you will be ok. But it is a lot of work personally I would go with a smaller species I would get a severum with a school of 7 Congo tetras or giant danios and a featherfin catfish or 4 pictus cats.

I'm just saying an Oscar in a 75 is I would say the minimum but it can,be done and the Oscar will live a good life it's my opinion,on it if you don't like it get over it I did not say put a dovi or a stingray in a 75 it's an Oscar that will likely max out at 13 inches so In a 75 that gives it plenty of room.

Do you honestly believe an Oscar would have plenty of room in a 75?
I don't.I think the fish could live, but it's quality of life would be very poor regardless of filtration and water changes.
