I may be a little slow to continually update this thread, I some how manage to get pulled on side projects while trying to focus on this. Today was a good day for me, I feel like I actually accomplished something, after a failed attempt at building a stand.
I understand that this isnt in the projects forum, but I figured perhaps the salt audience might enjoy this a little bit more.
The tool I used, set the clutch to the lowest possible.
Practice makes perfect, especially since its my first time. If you look closely, in the last pic, you can see where I had two failed attempts on the right side. Glass cracked straight across.
And the tank of interest. This took forever, as I sat and baked in the hot sun, just before the storms passed. I think I may have spent 15-20 minutes working it until I broke through. Then I had to ream it to smooth out any shards.
A picture with overflow temporarily installed
I also decided to paint it today. Nice and easy, even with the humid air. I think I spent all of 10 sec. picking out the color. I put an old PC light fixture on to get a decent picture.
And another picture with the overflow temporarily installed. I think black would have blended better, but I have never been a huge fan of black back drops on aquariums, just my opinion though...
The tank is dirty and spotty from me having not cleaned it out when I broke it down from its last use, and the water I used as cooling while drilling.
