75 gallon stand and canopy build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The wiring is not very hard all you need to do is to wire them in series. I already have that on my 55 gallon and I will be switching everything from that over to this tank so pretty much all I have to do its switch the switches out.

Yeah I would imagine if you know whats what it isn't terribly difficult its just one of those things that if it goes bad it goes REALLY bad. I'll do many things myself but electrical work is not one of them. That's where my inner sissy comes out.

let me restate me statement I did not have any wiring problems the 55 gallon tank where everything is set up now. 2 weeks ago i built a stand for a buddy of mine and he wanted the power filters wired up to a switch. Well when they guy wanted me to wire this switch up I have been drinking for about 6 hours and I messed up his wiring. there was no smoke or fire, nothing heated up or anything like that. when u turned the switch off the filter kept running and they did not have the normal water flow out put coming out of them. well all i did was crossed a wrong wire. so that's what happens with u wire drunk lol. All i can say if dont be afraid to wire a switch in. if u just have a ship lot with 2 wires coming out of it then its very simple. if u have 2 or more lights u want to hook up to a switch them it's a little bit harder but just don't do it with a good buzz going on.

well today I got the doors framed in and a coat of poly on everything. All I need to do is to put 2 more coats on everything and mount the doors and all of the hardware and run all of my wires. Here are some more pics of what I have done so far. In the one picture with the light fixture its actually sitting on the inside of the canopy and there is glass that's covering the bulbs. I am hoping tomorrow to have a complete photo shot of it sitting in my house with the lights on but no water in it. I am still waiting for my gravel rocks to come in and then i will post some more pictures.

Nice build can't wait to see it up and going , what kind of fish are you going to put in it ?

I like the recess at the back of the stand for power filters I had to use internal filters on mine because I had no room at the back, I also like the electrical box with switches I wanted to do it on my stand but got lazy.
