i heard that green terrors and jacks will tear each other up because they look alike. thats just what i've heard, so i don't really know for sure.

Depends on the fish them selves. There are plenty of that combo around that are working fine. Some GT's are great community fish.Others are b#$35eds.I have both types.

I agree with TAZ on your first combo.Could work.Won't know till you try.
IMO JD's are overated as far as aggresion and GT's don't deserve some of the aggresion bashing they sometimes get and can be great community fish.I find them more terratorial than aggresive.

I have a 10" jag, a 6" jd, a 12" pleco, and a 8"(apx.) asian redtail cat in a 55. I don't see why you couldn't go w/ your original stocking option.

Do you really think so? I need more people to say that I can, I'm not saying I don't trust you, Taz, but I don't want to get the fish to later find out that the fish are going to tear each other apart.

Thanks
Mike

I think you should go with your first stock list too. I have a 90 = same footprint, just 4 inches taller. I keep a GT, JD, FM, and 2 pleco's in there. I don't think I'm overstocked, and agression is minimal. I think this may be a result of LOTs of driftwood and hideouts for them to get away from eachother when they need to. Think of them as roomates stuck in one apartment together. Somebody's gonna get sick of somebody else once in a while right? The largest of my cichlids is the JD, she's 5 1/2" or so, but gets bossed around by the 8" pleco

I'd go with the GT, JD and maybe some of the smaller pleco's like the gold nugget etc that have awesome color, but will still do a good job cleaning up. Some of them are picky about water but a good water change schedule should take care of that anyway. I also had 5 cory cats in with my cichlids and they were never abused or chased around so I know they'll work too.

It does have a lot to do with individual temperment tho. If you get a couple fish that are real nasty you might not be able to keep them all. but you have to try to find out

Good luck:headbang2

I already have the sveni and gt

whats a sveni? Is that supposed to be Salvini or a different fish. Sorry just wondering

Also that guys 55 is WAY overstocked. :WHOA: I wouldn't go by that example. There are 12" fish in that tank and its only 12" front to back = not good :grinno: sorry spalding...no flames

As far as JD and GT's together, I would say go for it. I think the first option is a good one, throw in some dithers and call it a day. My JD and GT (no longer own either) were inseperable. Occassional snaps, but nothing serious.

i would stick with ur gut action and the 1st suggestion and maybe add more i have quite alot in a median tank, acaras, firemouths, dwarf jewels, sajicas, sharks, sae's and kribs and there all fine lol i even have a bolivian ram in there
