When it comes to a CA/SA cichlid tank can the amount/size of fish you could stock really change that much? From what I have read it would be pretty much the same but the fish would live a bit more comfortable in a 75 gallon. Thank you for your responses.:headbang2

The amount of fish doesn't really change depending on the size of the fish u keep. I would say no more than 8 inches. 10 inches can be done but not ideal for a fish that size. In a 75 most people would say 12 inch max but I think 15 inches is ok since most fish take a while to reach that size or don't reach size at all

Ok so the numbers would stay about the same but my max size would increase a few inches. I have the opportunity to purchase a 75 gallon, but I already have two 55 gallons, so I wanted to see what I would gain. I guess that would give me room for the male Gold Saum that I want. So many choices and so many things to consider. Thanks for the reply!

A 75 is 18" deep compared to 12" on a 55. Bigger the footprint the better of ur fish are, go with the 75 u wont regret it, also there are some fish u cant house a 55 that a 75 can handle!

Great information. I am really interested in getting some combination of Gold Saum, Firemouth, convict and pictus cat(s). This combo would be pushing it in a 75 I'm assuming.

strictly from an aquascaping standpoint i perfer a 75 over a 55 for the extra depth its alot easier to stack rocks and more room to turn driftwood in and looks better in the end all things being the same just tank size.

That is something that I didn't even think about. I guess 6 more inches would give you quite a bit more room for getting your "Fish Furniture" in the right spot.

I have a 75 and a 55... the 75 seems so much larger to me... i would love to replace my 55 with another 75...

as for that combination... I think it could work in a 75.... a single male of each Saum, Firemouth, and Convict... then the cat.. just scape it well with places for them to hide etc....

Well you guys are are talking my into getting the 75. I'm sure my wife will be pleased.
