Do you take any special precautions to keep them from escaping?

Yes. The overflows have lids on them. Tank is covered with a canopy but I still have the back section covered with screen and I have polycarb lids on all three openings. Every once in a while ive found a rope in a filter sock or in the 40b one side drains to first. But that hasnt happened in quiet a while.

Well ive got bad news. The first fish that started me back to fish keeping has passed. I think he had cancer there was a lump that showed up and he really hadn't grown much since then. I liked to think of him as the little sen that could. He ate last night just like normal and acted normal just like normal. I didnt euthanize him because he always acted good. I thought that if I saw him in distress I'd take him to my friend who is a vet and put him down. But no real deciding factor that showed he was any worse. I came home from work and he was dead. Its as simple as that.

Hope you weren't suffering little buddy. I'll miss you chasing Udon around trying to win her over.

Rest In Peace little guy, you’re swimming under the rainbow bridge now. (Look it up if you don’t know what it is)
It’s always sad when a special animal close to the heart passes, I hope you find solace in the memories you have of him.

Aw this breaks my heart. Sounds like the little Sen had a wonderful life. So Sorry to hear about the cancer. Freak accidents happen sometimes. I’m confident he was very happy and healthy under your care. I bet he loved adventuring in the 180 jungle with Udon and the gang. He got the best and couldn’t think of a better life for a fish. RIP little buddy. Sorry again for your loss.
