This is my first post to MFK and I have to say this is an excellent site.
Great to see that keeping big fish is alive and well out there. Anyway, I have a male Jaguar in a 90 gallon and he seems very happy. Only other fish in the tank at present are 3 spotted raphael cats (they hide under the driftwood). He doesn't bother them at all. He is now about 11-12 inches. Maybe one day I will give him a larger tank but for now it will have to do. Although i do agree that a larger tank would be better, I believe that providing good nutrition and a clean environment are very important. I saw a full grown male at a fish show when I was a kid and I always wanted one some day. It is neat to watch him "attack" my kids when they get too near the tank. The tank is viewable on a four sides (so intruders are coming at him at all directions!) But the tank is set up as a focal point on the main floor so this will remain. Seems cruel sometimes but he gets peace most of the time since there are no other fish to scrap with! I wonder sometimes if he's infact bored?
Good luck with your Jaguar, I'm really enjoying mine!
