I have a 75 with a lone carpinite in it about 3in for about a month.I need some help stocking,i would like silver dollars and a cat with some other fish, but have no idea this will work or not never kept a tex before. What else can I put with him?

2 of any of the following or a mix of them:
neets
Honduran Red points
convicts

Once they all get bigger, you might need to thin it out some though.

for the cat i would go with a pictus, if its a male though he may want the tank to himself but you could try another med cichlid like a GT or something, if not another cichlid then silver dollars should do fine and you could get a bichir as well

yeah they are SWEET and are bottom dwellers you can go to the polypterus forum to see what kinds there are, senegals are the most commonly available, petsmart and stuff carries them and they are really active, dont just hang at the bottom but actually swim around the tank, you could do 2 in your tank with the pictus, texas n silver dollars

Ok im thinking 1 tex 5 silver dollars a pictus. I never kept a bichir are they cool fish?

Pictus do best in groups, and can get as large as 8''. They are also very sensitive to water conditions. I never kept a bichir, but I think it will be fine. Silver dollars will be good too.

very true you should either have group or just have one on its own, pictus can be fine on their own they just dont come out as often as they would with a group but IME are still very active cats

my pictus is a friggin terrorist and strikes out at random times on the fish. hes like a lightning bolt..but Ive never noticed any sensitivity to anything but temp on their part. I had one for 6 yrs that lived through everything from tank crashes to a big grumpy red devil and tons of salt. I salt regularly and hes not shown any signs of dislike to it.

ok...soo I just let my add run amuck in the pet store lol I brought back the tex and now have 2 festivums,5 silver dollars and 2 really big cory cats, had no idea some get past or around 4 inches. now here's the new problem while I was there they have 3in clown loaches for 4.99 ea it is the lowest price ive ever seen can and will they fit into the mix? and if so how many?
