Do you have some type of valve to slow the return flow? Does your tank have built in over flows or the hang on type. The way it sounds to me the pump is to big for you application.
Your pump is pumping water so fast out of the sump and the over flows do not have the GPH to match the pumps flow.
I hade the same type of problems when I first starting using wet dry filters.

They are built in. I believe...

Agreed...

Your overflows/drains are not large enough in my opinion :) That would be the simple solution in my opinion. If you are running 1200 gph capable drain... Times 2 you are only going to max out at 2400 gph drain.. If you are running a reeflo dart that with 0 head pushes 3600 even if you get down to 2600 or even 2450.. you will have issues.. Anything over what your over flows max out at is going to give you wet floors :D

Just my opinion.

Also my opinion :) restricting the flow on your pump is a life draining practice;)

Actually, when your tank has a built-in overflow box, the faster the pump, the faster the drain... The wet/dry filter is the one that can't handle the flow, due to the drip plate and the filter fabric. Best way to reduce the flow is use PVC coupling and reduce the return pipe size from 2 1/2" down to 1" gradually (2 1/2"-2"; 2"-1 1/2"; 1 1/2"-1 1/4"; 1 1/4"-1" - if you can find 2 1/2" -2 1/4"; 2 1/4"-2 it's even better; a ball valve will help, too) Personally, I haven't use pump such size. I've learned from the landscapers I work with, but haven't had a chance to experience it. Do some research. I remember I read the instruction from a Dolphin pump, and they did mention the same method.... Bottom line, do some more research...

Not necassarily... If you have a 1" hole for a drain it will not drain as fast as a 2" hole.. And commonly in builtin overflows they start with 1" drains...

Just my opinion but : I would rather if possible open the drain and not restrict the pump..

750 gallons is alot of water. That's a great tank!

The reason they put a 1" on your wet/dry filter lid as well as the drain in your overflow box so you won't flood your wet/dry filter. In those sump that use filter sock, they put 2 1/2" bulk head, cuz the sock can take bigger flow without flooding the filter. As long as the total size of pipe/hose on your return same or less than the total size of pipe/hose on your drain, and if you have a built-in overflow box, you won't flood your tank. This theory won't apply to HOB overflow box. For HOB overflow box, you need to match the flow rate on the pump to the flow rate on the box, or you'll moping your floor every single day :D

I agree ^^ but they really use 2 1/2" bulkheads(meaing 2 1/2" pipe too right?)? wow..

+ 1 for 3rd jealous person

2x 2" drains.
One 2" drain each overflow box Chad? Or two 2" per box? BTW, how many pre-drilled hole in each box and what's the size?
