750 gallon update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome tank and update! Those mono's are massive! Same w/ the nigers. I love the tig and rays in there also.
The azuls look great and those are some real nice bahia's!
How about some info on the filtration? Gotta be intense to keep up w/ that bio load.
Thanks for sharing!

I love the fish dont get me wrong, but I just dont see the beauty in a tank with no aquascaping. You completely lose how the fish would act in their own environment. just my 2 cents

Heres a few pictures of the Temensis which i got the weekend, he's taking some time to adjust to being part of a pack as he was pretty lonely before but now has a family.

Well you are the man to know all about intense bio loads, i'm sure my filtration doesn't compare to yours, i run a sump on this, i did want an FX5 to polish but can't work around the thick plates of glass at the top and can't get the siphon if i run it from the sump, just a filter sock and 2 layers of 50mm jap matting for mechanical, lots of pot scrubbies, bio rings and bio balls in the main compartment with a pump pushing water through a UV (can't remember the size of the UV, it was only enough to be useful for green water though, not bug killing), two pumps in the end chamber pushing up about 4000 gallons an hour (need to source a larger pump to replace the one weaker pump) and a water drip which overflows out the sump, this does about 50% a day at the moment i think

I couldn't agree more, i've always hated tanks where there is nothing to make it natural, that's what we love after all not just the fish, the personality of the fish, if i've got a predator i want to see him hide and then hunt not just sit in a dark corner - i go through phases where i try it, my favourite is the giant bamboo plants, the problem is i have so many fish all so large that they get moved around, i should probably take the wood out and silicone them in. I might have to climb in the tank however to put them in position and those sting rays scare the crap out of me.
Nice feeding video! I like how you work the corners. I usually toss the shrimp in and make the wife mad at me for getting carpet wet. Cool vid!!

Fortunately we have a tiled floor, but i'm always mopping it :D
Amazing! The sand makes it look really nice. I think bare bottoms are boring.

Likewise, i love a good chunk of sand, the nigers love to sieve it through and the rays enjoy it better i think too
Really cool. Love the cichla
