  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ehh i dont know what my current ph is or was but i keep sa/ca afrian cichlids a rope fish bluegills and pacus red tail shark and clown loaches in the same tank in they all seem fine. im out of testers or i would tell you

i've seen it work at my lfs....a huge, and grossly overweight clown loach with a bunch of nice show africans....so it works

I have five Clown Loaches living with African Cichlids for years. PH is 8.2

They get along fine. It is funny watching the CLs swimming around, and banging into, the African Cichlids and getting away with it. The ACs totally ignore them.

I read an article about this in TFM(tropical fish magazine). The jest of it was that the Africans will become territorial as they mature and they will protect there territory at all costs. So, people think everythings good to go when they first get the two together but then the AC's reach maturity and you may be very dissapointed. They didn't say it was impossible or shouldn't be done but they recommended a lg. tank with lenght being more important than depth. Also, plenty of hiding places.

I agree with the PH being ok for the Clowns although it is not preferable. I've maintained an 8.2 PH and my clowns have been perfectly happy.

I would say, if your going to go for it, get 2 or 3 more so they can have the social structure they thrive on.
