Severums are beautiful and generally peacful fish so you could add others later and won't have to worry about aggression.

You can have as many Firemouth's as you want. They do a lot of chasing and show off but don't hurt anybody. I personally don't think they are very pretty or interesting and I have three of them.

A GT male would make a beautifull single specimen, but they don't mix well when they get older. I have heard the same about JD's but I have a mated pair that are very mellow. It really depends on the individual fish.

Severums are beautifull, especially when they get older and you can mix the differnt colored ones.

The female Red Terror (Festae) is the prettiest fresh water fish, but very aggressive. A pair would be nice.

Severums are pretty fish? Really? I just don't see it or maybe I'm not seeing good pics of them? I really like how the colors almost seem neon on the GT's and JD's. The EBJD is an awesome looking fish too, but It's really hard for me to justify spending so much $$ on 1 BABY fish that has no guarantees. At least if I get a GT it's going to be 3" minimum and be very easy to replace at a cost of 6-9$. That's the line of thinking I am coming from. If you have pics available of some good looking, sevs please show them. I'd love to see what a good looking sev looks like.
thanks again.

I looked at teh red/super red sevs and I like those and know my wife would as well. She wanted discus originally but doesn't want to do the tank work so I said H*** no. I understand each fish is different personality wise. Maybe I could do 1 GT and a few sevs.

im going to do 5 cichla kelberi, a niger catfish, and an endlicheri

imo salvini are great colored fish that don't grow that big just a thought :) i think black belts don't grow to big either. Just wanted to throw up some other options since they are a little less common.

That doesn't really help me given that the stocking of each tank is drastically different, but thanks for sharing :)

I was under the impression the salvani had a temper the size of king kong compared to a GT or JD?

So after talking to the wife some more maybe EB's are a possibility. How much do they normally run in the stores? Cheapest I have seen was $45.
