Today I found on petcos website that they sell in store 75 gallon tanks and that they were on sale for 130$ which I think is an insanely good price for a 75g so I decided to talk to my mom and she said that for Christmas although it’s still a decent way away from now, will get me a 75 gallon and I’m wondering if there would be any possible tankmates, possible some type bichir or smaller armored catfish such as a Raphael.

THIS IS JUST AN IDEA TO A POSSIBILITY, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT I WILL NOT GET A 75g SOON BUT IM MAKING PLANS FOR IF IT DOES HAPPEN.

Armored cat is a possibility. I wouldn’t recommend it but if you are trying something, a Raphael is what to try.
All depends on the fish though. Only way to be sure is to try out.

It wouldn’t put a lot on the bio load would it?

It would increase bio load with whatever u get. I’d recommend looking into some armored cars like Deadeye Deadeye said. Hoplo cats are a good option. If you don’t mind a very increased bio load u can do some small plecos. I personally think you’re better off with a bare bottom no decor and no tank mate tank imo. I find it’s better for the fh and better for the keeper. A few days ago U said daisy got the scrapes on her head. No decor, gravel or tank mates will not 100% eliminate injuries but significantly help.

I’ll definitely take this into mind but I absolutely hate the bare tank look, I’ll at least have sand and a few plants and small rocks. Not doing plecos for 10 thousand dollars lol they’re too messy for me. Daisy has been kept with tankmates before with no issues at all.

What tankmates?
For a short time he was with a red devil and at one time when he was young and in the tote still I had put guppies with him along with a few tetras and has recently been housed with a tetra that was in my moms 40g tank that I moved to mine because it was beating up the frogs. I moved the told my mom that I didn’t want it because it actually picked at daisys fins ( I saw it myself)

Any tankmate will cause an increase in bioload. A 75 could easily handle both assuming cleaning is sufficient.
Tankmates as juvies is different than when adults. American cichlids kind of “snap” at 4-6 inches where they go from peaceful to full dovii. Flowerhorns and amphs are at the extreme of this.

True but there’s only one way to find out
