75g flowerhorn tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would it be okay to add a Raphael cat while in the 55g? While the FH is still young?
yeah you definitely could as long as you accommodate for the extra bioload but you will need that 75 in the near future for sure if you were to add a Raphael. So talk to your mom and if the 75 is in the foreseeable future then you could get a Raphael for the 55.

I’ll talk to her right now

Not recommending it but you would love a senegal bichir or even delhezi bichir almost as much as your flowerhorn. I know I loved my senegal as much as my flowerhorn in the past. I personally don't think bichirs should be kept in most cichlid setups but I have seen it work before to where the flowerhorn ignores the bichir. They live mutually. Though every fish is different and if it were not to work the outcome would be brutal.

adding to this though.... I almost don't see the point. It's fun and all to get a new fish and have more fish but basically all your getting is extra bioload. For the raphael to feel comfortable you have to provide cover and places for it to hide because that's what they like to do. Hide. So you may never see it anyway just like many owners of Raphael catfish.

Can't tell you anything 100% about keeping any other fish with a flowehorn because it's a gray area. Very hit or miss.

My Raphael taunts me. His hiding spot is in plain sight where I can always see his face. But that’s it. He just sits there. I’ve even taken the log out and tried shaking him out (to see if he was stuck and how big he was), and he didn’t budge...

I plan on adding a few more plants that he could use to hide in.
