Rockbass get no more aggressive than larger bluegill. My last RB (7") was about as aggressive as an oscar of equal size. He was hand fed and very interactive. Local lakes/ponds near Green bay should have greenies/Rb. There was a LFS in the downtown area that used to sell natives, but I was there two weeks ago and did'nt see any.

I find that rocks are surprisingly peaceful, except with smaller fish.
about 10 live under my dock along with about 5 pumpkinseeds.
Rock bass are very social fish and dislike being alone.
But that is merely my assumption from the ones under my dock.

I wouldn't recommend yellow perch. They can get 14-16"-even in an aquarium.
on rare occasions.. biggest i caught was 13", biggest i've seen was 14 1/2.
i agree though they can get big.. usually they end up getting fat instead of long.

i might look into rock bass but my dad probably won't like the idea.
so if i do plan to get yellow perch would i need more than one or would the fact that theres other fish in the tank be enough to get it to move around?
so this could work for the tank: 1 rock bass, 1 perch, and 1 pumpkinseed?

hi i recently picked up a 75g wide for 25$ :headbang2
i want to stock it with native fish and i'm wondering what type of fish do you think i can keep in it? i was thinking a pumpkinseed or 2 and bluegill, but i'm not sure if they can live together.
i also heard from my uncle that perch cannot live in aquariums and get major deformities, as he's experienced.

also what kind of filter should i get? i've never bought a filter to add to a tank, i've only used what came with..
is there any special lighting i need to use for natives at all?

How do you get a 75 gallon for $25? Tell me! I want one!

i was woke up at 7 on a saturday by my dad asking me if i wanted a 75 gallong for 25$. lol
my friend just got a 110 with stand and everything free today :O. i'm jealous.

but would this be too much for a 75g?
1 rock bass, 1 perch, and 1 pumpkinseed

and would just 1 perch be ok, or would i need another one?

In my opinion you will be fine but it really depends on the personality of the fish and in my opinion you would need a minimum of 2x filtration

In my personal opinion I have caught plenty of rock bass over 13" here in northern illinois and wouldn't suggest putting in a 75. Like I said it is just my opinion.

Rock bass over 13"?! Pics please! Ive never seen them over 5 or 6 inches in WA but I always catch them out of rather small lakes...

Perch are awesome. My two have ended up have wonderful personalities and are really fun to watch, specially at feeding time... but even without food, they play hide and go seek with me :D
I started with 6 perch (too many but wanted to make sure some survived) I culled some of the school and then one got sores so I culled him too, and then I lost another one I believe solely because it wasn't eating... but I would recommend at least two perch, they are more fun that way (and comfortable)

How are you planning on getting these fish? And nice pick up on the 75 wide. Im jealous! My friend has one I drool over, and Ive been trying to get her to sell it to me with no luck haha :D
