above is a video I took in Aktun Ha Cenote in the Yucatan. Although there aren't any Thorichthys in the video, this is their neck of the woods. I put it here so you could see the plant life of the area. Nymphea water lilies are quite common, as are overhanging terrestrial vegetation, and algae. In deeper areas, plant life diminishes.
Below is another video of a Eden Cenote in the same area.

To the OP, you can never ask to many questions and even if you could, don't you think its better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake? :)

And sorry for the derail, but duanes, is there by any chance a thread that has all (okay, so some) of the videos you've taken in one place? I love watching your vids and would adore a thread dedicated to them if one exists? :)

These cenotes are all Spring-fed?

Awesome vids.

So it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I didn't have any plants in the tank?

They call it (maybe a misnomer? maybe not) an underground river system in the Yucatan, it is the constant movement of rain water percolating throughout the limestone, and because the rock is mostly calcium, as it dissolves, it gives way into giant sink holes creating the Cenotes. In some the upwelling of fresh water and current is very strong. In one Cenote on the grounds of the BelAire Eco Hotel I ventured too far, and had to use mangrove roots as grasps to keep from being swept out to sea, pulling to a less safe area. In that Cenote, manatees were regularly seen, and I got caught up trying to find them not noticing the current until too late.
In some the water is surprisingly quite cool, only mid 70sF.
My videos are all in one place under my name (Duane Stuermer) except some shorties, on youtube. I hope to be making more from my new residence, Panama soon.
Below is a shortie not on youtube from a tiny Cenote near Azul, all the Cenotes are a short drive down the main highway south of Cancun, and north of Tulum. Easily accessible, and a great eyeopener for any fish keeper. Many are used as swimming pools by the locals, safe, and well tended.
