Why would you add and Electric catfish? :banhim: :WHOA: :screwy:

A 75 gallon would be great for life. Get 5 of them if you can to start with, because all of them may not make it. You CAN NOT KEEP THEM WITH ANY OTHER FISH FOR LIFE! Good luck!:)

he asked for a fish that can survive in the tank..the electric catfish was the only fish that ever made it with my Fahaka puffer, b/c zapzapzap when the Fahaka tries to eat em..plus add a good cave for the cat and he's good to go...

take a :chillpill: and do some research on the electric cat before you call for a ban :irked:

here's a link for the ignorant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_catfish

I may be new here, but not new to fish..ya don't need to be a dick

After reading your link. Still, why would you mix the two? One of them still will die. Not only do the cats get super ****ing huge , but they eat other fish. Even with the dwarf species it still could be some major problems. Yeah, you may not be new to keeping fish, but that's just common sense. He wants a fish that can SURVIVE with P's not kill them.  Puffers and Piranhas are different in many ways.

This is what your link said:

Electric catfish (family Malapteruridae) is the common name of several species of freshwater catfish with the ability to produce an electric shock of up to 350 volts using electroplaques. Electric catfish are found in several parts of Africa. Electric catfish are usually nocturnal and feed primarily on other fish, incapacitating their prey with electric discharges. They can grow as large as 3 feet long and over 40 pounds (18 kg) in weight. Electric catfish were known as far back as the ancient Egyptians. There are two genera and over 12 species known, most of which are dwarf species less than 12 inches long.

oh yeah, and the recommendations on putting oscars in there are any better? how come you didn't call for a ban for that feedback as well :nilly:

as for the electric cat...no way it grow to 3ft in captivity..the most you'll see is 12", it will not be able to swallow a whole 5" P, and the shock will only scare the Ps not kill them - it feeds at night and hides in the day. yes I know P's and fahakas are different. I wouldn't let the fahaka take a bite of my finger for fear of it taking bones along the way. Between the 2, the I'd rather take a bite from a P - so no a P should not kill the cat...I doubt 3-4 Ps working together will. I had the cat with my fahaka for 8 yrs, the cat's tail was constantly tore up...I gave it away when my fahaka died of natural causes

and as to why you would mix the 2....well, it's better than mixing oscars and Ps. It was just a suggestion..it ticked me off that you over reacted so badly :irked:

i agree, i've got a 120 gal. and i've got 4 in it that are from 8 to 10 inches and they are more than enough for me, also i started out with 6 and they ended up eating 2 of the ones that didnt grow as fast (kinda sucks) but i've had oscars and they usually end up with bits of their fins nipped off (funny how that works) and it adds alot of stress to the tank, and thats not what you're going to want with only 3 p's becuase you're going to want them to swim around and not hide.

That was the only point I was making.======^^^^ These fish can not be kept in a stress free enviroment with Oscars or Electric cats. A 3ft Electric cat may be a little big for that fish in captivity, but you give a big enough tank and it will get close to it. Most P's are scared of there own shadow let alone another fish in there giving it a bunch of crap. When I said ban him IT WAS A JOKE. I don't have any pull on this board. I was just trying to understand why someone would make their fishes enviroment a stressfull one. At the end of the day the guy/girl will make their own choice and put what the hell they want in their tank.:naughty: It's all good!:chillpill:

eheim 2250 canister filter would that be ok?i kinda want to put them in a 90 but you ppl tell me plz wuts better....?

if the electric cat maxes out at 12", which im skeptical of, the rbps will eventually get to be about the same length. regardless, thats a terrible stocking idea to put them together
