I've seen tons of gars kept with peacock bass so not quite sure what you're getting at. My pbass arent aggressive at all in the least bit. My mother has regular ol cichlids that put my pbass (yes I know its of the cichlid family) to shame in terms of aggressiveness.
I've seen tons of Pbass that have killed gars also... There is a thread just a few down from this one that was exactly this case. Ciclets and gar as tankmates is never a good long term idea for the heath and longevity of the gar.. Ciclets do not always just kill gars through aggression. they also kill them through their obnoxious over activity and through competition for food and living space.
If you want to keep gar with Ciclets.... I don't care, they are your fish. Kill them how ever you want..

I get where you are coming from.... The thread a couple below this one has aggressive fish, mine arent aggressive at all towards each other or any fish. They just cruise along the tank all day long. If it ever gets to where I think the gar will get hurt I will do something about it. I enjoy him very much.

i have kept 2 tiger oscars with my longnose (which is now in a 6' kiddie pool) and Florida gars. there seems to be no problem and it has been this way for a good while now. but that doesnt stop the fact that the oscars could severly hurt/kill my gar. so keep close watch on them as much as possible. like said many times before, just because fish get along at one point, doesnt mean the wont turn on eachother. (this being said more about the cichlids.)
