only just came across this thread and have to say that is an amazing looking DIY project... looks exceptionally professional... can't wait to see the finished product stocked with fish...

It just gets better and better GT. Its obvious you put a lot of thought into your design before you started the build.
This is the best I have seen, anyone thinking of building a tank should look at this build, looking forward to the finished tank pics.

Lol i love the way your already thinking about tank 2 will be 3,4,5 soon there is always just one more big fat cichlid needed ! Just one more then i can be happy !!!!!! lol . En

In terms of clean lines and visual appeal - you have succeded on every level. In the top 5 tanks I've seen built on this site. I commend you efforts, GREAT WORK!
Thx. Even though it is a ply tank, I still wanted it to have visual appeal. I am happy others agree.:)

haha...need something to work towards.:D

Everything you're doing is stunning. If I didn't know better I would swear the top of that tank is all acrylic. The tank is awesome, the craftsmanship, is awesome, and your photography is awesome.

My only suggestion would be to add some external flash holders to the top of the tank because I think your display is going to warrant some of the best photo opportunities that we've seen in a while.

Thanks heaps for the kind words.:) I am definitely looking forward to future photo ops in this tank. I will be quite happy sitting in front of it with the camera while downing a few.:naughty:

lol..Glad I inspire someone.:D

I am already contemplating building a second one to sit next to this one in the future. I was thinking the same size but divided straight down the center with 2 panes of glass instead of 1. So I would have around 400g each side. I was thinking Dovii pair 1 side and Umbee pair the other. I could then get rid of all my other tanks and just stick with the 2 big ply tanks.

that would look SUPER neat!!
i was thinking about getting a huge tank with a glass divider in the middle..!
on one side an umbee and on the other side neon tetras!
