Hi guys,

I've got a spare 7G (pretty small I know), which I'm hoping to use to hold fry if/when my cichilds grow and breed, but until then, I was wondering if there was anything interesting I could breed in there? If not breed, what can I keep in it?

Thanks

Any small livebearers probally even convicts or or gabusia.

Convicts are definitely too big for a 7g.. Not sure what you mean by "gabusia"

You could go with a trio of guppies or endlers.

convicts no.

gaMbusia, yes. They are members of poecillidae, and look like really dull guppies... maybe a little bigger. Known as mosquito fish.

I would say grab a couple of large bowls and sponge filters, stick some shrimp in the 7g and then transfer berried females to the bowls. You will still need a larger tank to transfer the baby shrimp to (10g with sponge filter is a great $15 solution).

Hmm! Never thought for shrimps! Thats a good idea! Can you keep shrimps (which I can breed in a 7G) with African Cichlids?

Thanks

The shrimp would turn into feeders, which isn't a terrible thing if you were trying to breed feeders.

man those shell dwellers are really cool. Im thinking about doin a little 20 gallon community of those. Very active personality filled fish!

yes they are cool and ive found the many banded shell dweller to be the most active and best personalitys
