Looking good! I cant wait to see the finished product all filled and full of rays!

Wow just read through the whole thing. Looks awesome. Personally i would have painted the outside to match the rest of the room but either way, it looks really cool. Also, i probably would have moved it to it's final position in the room before painting to prevent scraps and chips in the paint.

Are you leaving it bare-bottomed or will you be adding some sand as a form of subtrate?

P.S.... In the pictures you have provided i came up with a thought. In the plannig stages, if you had made the windows a bit thinner you could have probably used the glass on the tank behind the pond. Would have saved you $800. But then you would be 1 tank short!

That actually is its final location, you would need a forklift to try and move that thing, I am left with one car lane to pull my truck into, the rest of the garage is fish.

I am going to leave it bare bottom, I want the black bottom to go with the leos and hens that will be in there.

I actually had that acrylic all laying around already. Ordered a ton of acrylic last year when I was planning to build 3 all acrylic tanks, then ended up doing 2 plywood tanks and just using it for windows, needless to say I have a ton of extra acrylic now. That tank behind the pond is actually going to be where my hystrix are all moving to once the other rays move out, they are starting to outgrow the 200G they are in now.

Looks really good JohnG. That is alot of work and it is comming along really nice. Cant wait to see it up and running.
I was thinking about that tank last night and was trying to think of how much water evaporation you may have.
Are you planning on putting any kind of drain at the bottom edge of it or are you going to do water changes thru the sump setups?

I do water changes a little different then most, its how I have done it on all m ponds and works well for me. I hang a pump, just a couple hundred gallon per hour one, in the pond at the level I want water changes to drain to. I set that up on an a timer so that it will run just long enough to drain it down to the level the pump is hanging at, and then air will get into the line stopping any syphon. I use a float valve to refill the ponds with filtered tap water.

Float valve deals with any evaporation issues, and I have a dehumidifier and rolling AC unit in there to keep the humidity under control.

I kinda do the same thing. I have a pump that I hang on the outside of the tank Im draining.
Then I have one hose that goes in the tank, and one that goes out the door or down in the floor drain.
It makes it simple for me since I usually do all my wather changes on Sundays. Then I have a easy system to fill back up with.
When we get our pond set up in the basement, I have been thinking of ways to control the evaporation and decided I was going to use a float valve to solve that problem.
Thats one of the things I came up with last night when I was thinking of the set up Im going to do. Thats why your tank came to my mind last night, was thinking of how you would also control the evaporation issue.
My basement stays cool all year round. Its never above 75 in the summer and never below 60 in the winter. So my only issue is in the winters.. The tanks that are down there are set for 80 deg temps and those are easy to keep up to temp, but the pond is going to be my biggest issue. Its going to be open topped like your tank setup, so there I will lose alot of heat.
The lighting system I have for it will help with some of that, so I will be putting in a in-line heater to control the rest. Im taking all my Motoro rays and placing them in the pond. When Im done, there will really be two ponds in each of the back corners of the basement and then be attached with a 3 1/2 wide channel. But thats later down the road. Im going to get the first one up and running first.. we will be making it real nice and a cool looking setup..
