Ive had this set up since I got the armatus a few months ago and they were only from 2-3inches. i didnt really think the armatus is going to do this. they are all well-fed. well, i was wrong.

all of my dats now range from 4-4.5" so do you guys think i should move the dats to a different tank? all of my 3 armatus will definitely outgrow the datnoids.:(

Sorry for your loss! :( If all of your dats are 4"-4.5", they should be safe with the Armatus. 2" dat does look like guppy to 8" Armatus, though.

hybrid,

i saw a thread of an 8" armatus eating a 3" tinfoil. but the guy intentionally fed the tinfoil. i have tinfoils too but have been with the armatus since day one. you think i should move these guys to another tank with the other datnoids??

I allways follow the 1/2 rule. That is if a fish is really hungry they will try to eat another fish 1/2 there size. But it has to be in length and height.

Like a 4" discus is safe as can be with a 8" armatus. But a 4" hujeta is dinner.

That has worked well for me.

sorry about your dat

You have to admit, DAT is cool:ROFL:
When I had my guy, he was about 7" when he ate my 5-6" Gar... 10-12" when he ate my 8" common pleco. The good thing about it was he got bigger overight:naughty:

I would def seperate them or the same result will happen
Sorry for your loss thou

Mine chomped down 6-7 small endlies when it was only about 4-5" long. I didn'tt relaized it until I saw an endli's tail sticking out of his mouth and I counted all the bichirs (50 ish) when I pull them out to a different tank lol..

Al this is going on within a few days to a week tops..
