Great looking guy. Where did you get him from? ive been looking for one.

Biggest ive seen in captivity was 24 inches and he was a few years old.

Whats he eat?

I got it from River Wonders ( thanks for a nice fish R.W.). It eats live fish so far, rejects everything else . I don't want to starve him yet as he's still a bit under weight but much better than when I got it.

Nice Fish Man! I have 2 VATF'S and I am very tempted on selling all my fish (...gar,indo dat) to get an Armatus by himself.
Decisions to make :)

Do it...you won't regret it. These fish are really awesome. Keep tank dimly lit and the fish is all over the place and does not back down to anything. If there are any left grab one.

4 inches in a month and a half is an insane growth rate!!! my dorado isn't growing near as fast!!!!

I can't believe it either but i'm not joking. I want to put my redtail in with the Armatus now seeing the size is even but now I don't know if I should worry about the redtail? Any advice welcome. Anybody else with similar growth rates???

I wouldnt do it. Why risk it?

BTW mine has gone from four to an eyeballed 8" in 2 months and five days, he looks bigger then yours though. Of course its hard to tell from pics!

They have amazing growth rates. I'll try to get a pic of him up front of the aquarium with a ruler there but he never sits still when the lights are off and when they are on he's under his driftwood.

Mine isnt a swimmer, but even when the light are on he comes straight up to the front and just stares at me.

Such a cool fish. My distichodus got ahold of him today and left a little love nip. Should heal fine.

my redtail and armatus were fine until the armatus got bigger then him. then he was biting him every chance he got. i wouldnt even bother.
