at the moment i have 3 standard 36w grolux tubes on top of the tank and the three mercury vapour units have 125w dennerle special plant bulbs although they only come on for 4 hours per day...
the plants are a bit of an experiment really...they are anubias sp. if they dont survive i will change the bulbs on the mercury vapours for a higher kelvin rating as they dont show the colours of the fish very well..
the hoplarchus are quite shy at the moment as you might expect will cichla and dorado bombing around everywhere!! i have 4 in there and another larger one in another tank... i will try and get some pics of these over the weekend... i had a breeding pair of hops a few years back and i'm setting up a 180 gallon to try and spawn them again... top fish!
Can you get some better shots of the dorado? They look like a brycon sp. from the shots you supplied and that may explain why they arent acting up too much!
