Use it as a bath :) :P

Have a look at my 10 x 3 x 2 thread, i'm mulling stuff over to, probably be some ideas in there, you'll just have to do it on a smaller scale :)

i would do either some small CA like convicts, ect. or do some peaceful SA. Your tank is pretty shallow.
^ i agree.

You've suggested in two separate posts, both a jaguar and now an oscar. Yet you say that the tank is too narrow for a pair of Os because they can get 13" in another . WTF :screwy:
and apsito's in another. :D Just cultivating multiple idea's aren't you bud.
ahah Yes you could say that. I'm leaning more towards this setup though now after speaking with a few people from my area about our water quality. Its much more geared towards CA cichlids then a SA biotope, so I think it might be best to just go with a CA tank and keep everyone happier. By that I mean not having to constently play with my water or force the more sensetive SA dwarfs and all the tetras to acclimate to an CA environment.

Brians whats your opinion on it? Is the tank suitable for either cichlid for life? I realize its rather short but with an extra 2' of length I think that would make up for it. Also as I said before it has the same width as a 125 gallon tank just a bit shorter and a lot longer, which people seem to have forgotten :nilly:

That probably isn't a huge concern. Most tank-raised fish are fine in most water conditions. I keep mostly SA cichlids in my super hard water. They probably won't breed as easily, but most should do ok.

I have however kept both CAs and Rift Lake cichlids and had success breeding both in my water. So, if you are really interested in breeding without having to mess with the water, CAs are the way to go.
