Depends on what type of fish you're talking about. Common names are not very helpful. Do they look like redtail barracudas or african pikes?

there red tailed cudas "they have red and black on tail fin.
they said max size a foot
 
If they're redtails, you should be fine as long as the scombs are not small enough to get eaten. They do need a big tank though, because they are very jumpy fish and tend to smash up their faces on the tank walls. They are not aggressive at all. There's a difference between being aggressive and being a piscavore. They don't pick on fish, they just are voracious eaters and will eat anything small enough to fit in their mouths. And they don't commonly get 12" in captivity. You should be fine.
 
finally got to see them eat :headbang2
man there fast,the first few guppys i didnt even see them hit it.
its cool how they get under the guppy then hit up.
and i got to see the big teeth!! there long!
