Update- tank is doing great! No issues...RTCxTSN is almost big enough to join. Blue is slowly growing. Flathead is always hiding but comes out under the moonlight. uploadfromtaptalk1384366457099.jpguploadfromtaptalk1384366472702.jpguploadfromtaptalk1384366496309.jpg

Update...Tank is doing well. Acquired an alligator gar to grow out in my 180. The RTCxTSN is just about ready to join the big tank. Growing fast! THis tank is almost hands off. I finally cleaned the filter pads for the first time in 4 months. A also have been experimenting with water chemistry to make the fish more active. The best thing I have found is the Microbelift Barley Straw pellets. Added these in recommended amount to a bag and put it in the sump. It turned the water an amber color for a few days but it made the fish go crazy. They are very active and eat like never before. Thought Id share that!

Tank is doing great with no problems. Water temp now is 60 degrees. I like that it is cycling like it would in wild with temp. Fish are growing a lot. Bubbles is nearly doubled in size and pookie eats like a pig. Going to get photos soon.
I couldn't be happier with this tank:)

Are you dead set on a submersible?

I run an Evolution ESM 4500 and ESM 5500 pumps on my larger tank. The ES series is cheaper but louder. The ESM uses an american made marathon motor and is very quiet & reliable. Low power consumption as well.

^ Steve at highdesertkoi is a really great guy I've dealt with twice now. He tests all the pumps he sells before shipping them out.
