I'm not sure I agree with that, the tank is probably too narrow. They need enough tank width to extend their whiskers without having both touching the tank walls at the same time in order to not feel trapped, which the tank is not wide enough for (1.5x the width of the whiskers, following the rule of thumb I mentioned, would probably work).

Put a stand together tonight for the 84x12x12. Making the 36x12x12 stand next. The quality of lumber has certainly decreased with a crazy increase in pricing. Stand will be wrapped in walnut live edge to match the rest of the room

Second tank that was made with the offcuts. Will be doing a fully planted German blue ram tank.
And here’s the 70 gallon auto top off tank for the main display. Still need to router and polish the edges.

I would go with a planted tank, with some 50 Colombian blue and red tetras, and a bunch of cories.

Plants come Wednesday for the small tank. With the warmer weather hopefully a few streams thaw so I can get the nets and traps out.

That tank has been going strong since about September. And it is one of two permanently planted silver dollar tanks I have.
Been about 6 years since I’ve done a planted tank. Forgot how much you get per plant bundle. Struggled to find placement for them all. I can’t believe $140 in plants compared to $140 in coral. The satisfying feeling of a full aquarium.
