88F and 15 cups of salt.

It just seems liked you are making ich harder to treat than it needs to be.

I have a 180, and it got ich when I added my mahseer. I kept the temp at 78, and added a cup and a half, and it was gone 2 days later.

Or I typically use quick cure, and again in 2-3 days its gone.

Watch your water quality... if the massive amounts of salt didn't bomb your Bacteria colony I'de be surprized.

I use salt as a last ditch in treating Ick, or any meds for that matter. as said Ick has 3 stages... in it's free-floating stage is when it's suseptible to meds as well as free-floating. I simply bump the temp over 85 ( this temp is a max generally for Ick's toleration of heat) and do 50% WC daily until the tank's clean. Takes anywhere from 3-7 days generally. And keep a close watch on the tank 30 days after for a possible re-break of it.

"morons" i like what you did there, the is no proof of a problem with table salt. Pretty much most ick treatments use 2 to 3 teaspoons per gallon over time.

Your original post said you used 15 cups of morons salt. That is the only reason I opened up this thread. 1 or 2 cups of morons salts, sure, but 15 that is alot of morons. Funny stuff.

I do hope you clear up your ick, I've had luck raising temps and water changes.

As of today I can't see any ick on the fish, So hopefully in about 4 more days I will do some water changes.

I tried just raising the temp and the ick spreed to other fish. With in 2 days of treatment the originally infected where clear, and at the end of the 3rd day all fish look good.

What is the deal I see people use 1 - 3 teaspoon per gallon, and many places say to add that over 36 hours. I would have rather not used salt, but this is just the method I first learned when i joined this site and read the sticky; so I have always done it like this.

Hope fully I never have to do this again but if I do I will try less salt. I will check my params here in a minute, but the fish are all pretty lively and in good spirit, except the rainbow shark and he doesn't seem to like the salt as much.

glad to see your ick cleared up, so did mine, I remember I got it adding a new fish the same day you got your balas hah. just watch your water quality because I over-salted as well and It sent my tank in to a mini cycle
