By the way, don't value your fish by the price you pay at the store. When it comes to taking care of our water friends, ignorance is not an excuse. Use this site as a wealth of knowledge from those with book smarts and experience BEFORE you try something. Besides, you get more nutrition out of store foods than you do with feeders.

yeah goldfish arent very nutritous they are a very fatty source of food so hopefully you are only giving them as treats? if you want to do feeders get something more nutritous like minnows or something

Well I set up a pre-cycled filter in it yesterday and did a 50% WC yesterday and today. They seem to be doing fine. Eating well. And no, I'm not using them as a staple. I plan on feeding them these feeders maybe once every 10 days or so. My current staple is bloodworms and occasional beefheart and tubifex.

oh ok thats fine then, though i doubt they will actually breed in an 8g tub with that many in there, but as far as feeders go you shoudl be ok just make sure you do ALOT of water changes as goldfish are VERY dirty fish and i would keep them for at least 2 weeks before feeding them to my fish to ensure they show no sign of disease

I'll be doing 35-50% daily and that should be plenty as the filter I have running is a Penguin 100, rated for 20g, in an 8g tub that's not even full.
