Use a toilet cleaner brush perhaps? You could use anything and put a rag over it to collect the messy stuff

Take out the bulkheads, and go underneath the tank. Then use your finger with a paper towel to clean everything. just like groundhog's day.

I will buy the coralife sl-65 luft pump seeing how you recommend having it in addition to the pumps flow. For $60 bucks why the heck not?!

If noise is an issue, I would consider the DAPMH8 or DAPMH15 instead of the coralife luft. For just a little more $$$, you'll get a much quieter higher quality pump that puts out more air.

I have the DAPMH15 (running for 2+ years) and I'm really happy with it. It's quiet and powerful.

I like how you call salt a specific gravity altering med. lol The media flying out is something I didn't even consider, I will incorporate a second sheet for sure. The manufacturer recommends the chips only for a huge volume. Did you have just k1, than add chips and observe a difference? I understand the chips "do something different," what exactly is it that they do? Maybe I will have to buy them too.

I never called salt a specific gravity altering med? :( Prazi and Mela/Pima fix are the meds I was referring to...... Maybe I should have just said that? lol Meds that make foam probably would have been clearer, as adding lots of salt doesn't seem to bother the reactors anything like the mentioned meds do.

As far as the chips, they harbor small "bio animals" - larger then bacteria, and capable of eating many times their own weight in waste. I believe they take out stuff up to 5 microns, giving you a water polishing effect...... :)

And I agree on the coral life style lufts being loud. I actually have the one that runs my salt tank's skimmer hanging in the basement rafters with lines coming up through the floor to alleviate the noise.

x2 on the toilet scrubber. I have one mounted on the end of a piece of PVC, as well as a car washing brush on pvc to get those stubborn hard to reach places......

Salt makes water more dense, probably more so than any med, which is why I assumed you meant salt as a SG altering med haha
thanks for the tips all
