Ok I will be building an indoor pond in the near future and Im looking at
catfish for stock. As you can see by my signature I have SA/CA cichlids in a 180 and they are very rewarding, but having read info and seen pictures here I want to go bigger now that I have the time to devote to the wet-pets.
Volume of the pond will be approx.800 to 900 gallons so what is a nice combo of fish give me your thoughts,,
Mine are 1 TSN
1 TSN x RTC Hyb
or a rtc or can all the above fit in an 8 x 6 x4 encloser together? Thanks Paul

to start off i would most deffinatly recommend that you dont go 4' deep unless you are planning on putting in viewing windows. unless you sink it about 2 feet underground and only have 2' above ground. having a wall 4' tall would make viewing and accessing for any reason difficult. In My Opinion you could keep rtc, rtc x tsn, and a tsn all in an 8x6x2.5 so long as you have a high enough turn over rate, you only feed twice a week followed the next day by atleast a 25% WC. im currently pumping about 1500 gph on my 1200 gal. but when my cats (rtc, rtc x tsn, tsn, pangisius) go in it will be doubled. just monitor your water params and keep your nitrates down and you shouldn't have a problem.

Ok so I can scale the depth back a foot or so and still keep the stock that I listed ,very cool thanks for replying .

In my experience RTC need at least 10X12X12 and around 5' deep, but since most live in 10 gallons i think you'd be fine.;)

WOW... with your "experience" I would LOVE to see some pics of your RTC's that need (not sure which messurements to use here 10X12X12 = 10787.37 gallons or 10X12X5 = 4494.74 Gallons *slightly more reasonable*) They must be real Beasts

Well, seeing as they get 5'+...
I personally have seen a 25+ year old specimen and D*** they get big. If the neighborhood children start to go missing....

Btw, try planetcatfish.com - they know what they are talking about...

Bwahahahahahahaha...as a rough guide... sure... however you will learn that they are not exactly known for their...ummm... accuracy, And they tend to beleive that most large cats should not be kept in anything less than a private lake.

I think I might use that as a quote oneday
