9/11 Do you remember where you were when this tragedy hit?

I am so glad that the kids were respectful and such concerning the level of emotion that sometimes kids do not understand. I hope all kids are like that around the country!

Thank you so much Red Devil, but I do have to say the same for you, the way you approach every discussion here and your responses make me believe there is a person of true awesomeness behind the screen!

When I was in math class, there was no respect. It was quite disgusting. I felt no hope for us as a people while it was happening. I was going to a small school called Excell, a school they sends kids to after they get expelled. Some of you know what I'm talking about. They gathered all the students (a little less than 100) in a class room and turned on the tv. Some were cracking jokes and laughing about it, most others wherent even paying attention or caring.

Yeah i would be upset, In my travels I have been to places that are very unforgiving, and when people find I am a survivor they show respect. They might not even speak my language but they bow their head.

I got out of school early because my mom was taking me to the dentist, we were in the car and it came on the radio.

Her immediate reaction was like "Whatever, some kind of ad." And then she flipped the station.

When the same message, came on the other station, we both thought that it was some kind of like "War of the Worlds" BS thing.

We got to the dentist's office and they were all just chilling around the little tiny TV watching the replays of the planes hitting. It was deep stuff. I was only like 8 so i had no real reaction aside from being happy that i got out of school.

Like 3 days later after going over it in school and on TV constantly, it hit me that everything was like crazy. My mom says i cried for a day and a half straight.

I was in my first period in high school, when the first tower was hit. Once the second tower hit students were allowed to leave, and I took off. My school was on 50th st, and you could see the smoke from there. My first instinct was to walk up to my little sisters school on 155th st(since no trains or buses were running). I was able to use a phone there to call my mom, who was hysterical that I wasn't in school, where she went to pick me up. My mother lost a good friend in tower 2. I remember being terrified as fighter jets, and helicopters kept flying overhead, wondering if there was going to be another attack. Life in NYC was a little hectic the following years, and everyone was scared for an attack on the subways. May those lost rest in peace, and god bless the families of the 9/11 victims.

different people have different defence/coping mechanisms, other's have undeniable social problems. I have to remind myself of this regularly.

9/11/2001....I was where I always was at the time, with my fish tanks and fish doing water changes......I stepped into the family room, turned on the tv to get a break from the water changes just in time to see one of the towers collapsed to the ground....took a while to realize it was for real:WHOA:
