With proper training and education the person can shoot and use any gun they are qualified to. This case was adult error and the media is going to eat it up.

key word is "qualified"

I can agree on that to a certain extent. but clearly this kid wasn't qualified

so yea, adult error

Not sure if you were joking or not but the majority of Uzis that are sold these days are semi automatic, and quite a few of the those Uzis are even chambered for the .22 caliber round.

no, not joking. I did not know that

any time I think of uzi, I just automatically think fully auto

I'll be going to bed less ignorant today
Glad that I could help.

Here's what I found on the story

When the girl fired her first shot, a puff of dust rose as the bullet hit the knoll behind the target. Mr. Vacca let out a celebratory “all right,” and then shifted the gun to fully automatic mode

Okay?....so not only was the weapon full auto,it was also select fire.

I feel awful sorry for the little girl.

funny you mention this thread will be closed and you're also the first to bring up gun control. which I clearly stated what this thread is not about

the movie and video game comment was just a joke dude

and this is not the middle east.

and also, because it happens in the middle east doesn't make it ok

I don't need to be a gun expert to know that a 9 year old should not be handling an uzi

You obviously missed the point.

you made a couple of points actually, and they can be argued either way

I just disagreed.

and you lied, you did come back to this thread

Hello; The fellow instructing the young girl made a mistake and he paid the price. There are ways to go about such things more safely. I do see the point that the uzi is not a good fit for the young girl. She let go with her left hand at the front and the recoil walked the gun upward. She, and likely many, would have some trouble controling such a gun on full auto with one hand. The instructor likely would have been better off keeping a hand on the gun himself.

At least no one else paid for his mistake as dearly as he did. The girl may well have some issues from this and I hope people can convince her that she is not at fault.
