90 Gallon Cuban Cichlid Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wish i could get mine to hold still for a nice pic!

Really? Mine are quite interactive and pay a lot of attention to what goes on outside the tank. I lightly tap the top of the tank when I'm ready to feed and the male will come right up to me. Female is a bit more shy, but still not much. How big are yours?

These guys are so much easier to photograph than my Malawi Africans. You can tell that they are a mated pair. They pretty much stay together all the time.

I have a M/F pair of Alto. Compressiceps in my 220 Tanganyika Tank. They completely ignore each other....nothing like the Cubans.

Great fish and a great tank.

Thanks to all for the compliments!

I also have a cuban pair in my 90. I haven't posted pics of it yet though. They spawned for me this week. Fry just started swimming late yesterday. I'd be really careful with your rock arrangements, mine completely "re-decorated" their tank during spawning--make sure they are nice and secure.

Been there already. Apparently the male disapproves of my sand placement. He had been nice enough to move about 30% of it for me.

Great looking Pair!! and i love the creativity with the background too:) How big are they?

Male is about 6"-7" and the female is about 4"-5". He is quite a bit taller than she is, so he looks close to double her size. I assume they will shoot up in size. All fish I keep seem to grow pretty quick, especially at first (my secret is a mixture of good food and water changes)

Beautiful cubans and tank! I really love the sand, where did you pick it up? Most PFS I've seen is more tan than white. I use a lb / gallon as well. Love deeper sand beds.

I got it at Mermaids Pool & Spa. Its AquaQuartz brand. It used to be $8 for 50lbs, but now it is $10.50. I am now wishing I hadn't mixed the leftover cichlid sand in it. I thought to would add texture, but it just looks like debris on the sand bed!
