Hi all,
I am new to this site and its already helping me in setting up my tank. So I got myself a 90 gallon tank and picked up a Fluval 406 filter. I don't want to overstock my fish tank and here are some of the fishes I like:

*oscars
*jack dempsey
*green terror
*parrot cichlid
*silver dollars

I was wondering which ones from the above I can put together and how many of each type would suit my tank. I already have a foot long pleco from my 40 gallon tank that I am planning to put in this tank as well. Also, please suggest other types of fish that may go well but not listed above.

The foot long pleco is a huge bioload to start with. That being said, most likely I would say a single wet pet of one of your cichlid choices. The actual dimensions will play a role as well. Being how Oscars get to twelve inches long, they may not like a 90t as much as they would like a 90w.

Thank you Jexnell, I will think about putting the pleco somewhere else and consider getting:
1. 6 silver dollars
2. a green terror
3. an oscar

all juvenile offcourse

That's quite a lot. Take the pleco and one of those options, they are all far too much eventually.

I would probably rethink the silver dollars. I have four in a 90 gallon currently which are about 4", I am going to have to sell them when they get 6"+, they make the 90 look really small with how fast they swim back and forth.
If you have not purchased the 90 already, I would spring for the 125. You could do your SD's, Oscar, and green terror in the 125. 90 would be pretty tight for that stocking.

After learning what I did recently about silver dollars I would not suggest them for Anything less than a 6tf long tank.
See my thread called "silver dollar questions"

It seems they do better in big packs in a huge tank so I will be holding off on getting them myself till I can get a 6tf tank.

What I would do is get a single of one of the breeds you said that you like. Then get some dithers, rehome that giant pleco and get a smaller one that caps out at like 8in or so, and a catfish, Synadonis, Raphael, maybe a small pack of pictus. Get some nice driftwood and plants would be an awsome tank. Raising a single cichlid in that tank would be a great wet pet situation.

There are many cichlid communities you could do in a 90, like Thorichthys.
There are many nice fish besides cichlids, like upper jaw polyepterus, big barbs and wolffish.
Here is a website with a lists of nice setups for some standard tanks, up to 75g, but any of those lists could easily be kept in a 90, maybe with a few extra fish.

Oscars are big, and most silver dollars would do better in a bigger tank, but I think a Jack Dempsey or a Green Terror could do fine with three blood Parrots, a pleco and maybe some sisscortail rasboras.
BTW, some plecos may grow to 3ft+. You should see how big yours will get before planning around it. You could make a pleco ID thread.

@J.H. Interesting this combination looks good to me with a green terror and three blood parrots, a pleco and some other smaller fish. Thank you

Thank you all these are all great advice.
For now I need to finish building my stand for the tank. I can't wait to start my tank.

Is that 2x6s for a 90? Overkill much lol. May want some inner bracing so it won't tip sideways though. Otherwise quality
