900 gallon plywood shark tank build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It seems like its really stuck to the glass...i just cant get passed the "not recommended for use on glass without mechanical fasteners"... Why??
I'm not too sure tbh lol... like I said that was a beating forum and was being used for windows... so I'm not sure why it would say not to use with glass.. would be because it doesnt adhere to glass well... but again it's being used for glass by others... and if you say its holding on your tank then I dont see why it would be an issue... also the pressure of the water is forcing the glass against the tank not away from the tank so not too sure it applies ?‍♂️

Also this is what the seal looks like. Full of pockets like this where it looks like the sealant isnt touching the glass. I dont know why this happened because we piled the stuff on then compressed it with the bracing until it spilled out the sides in some spots. I will still follow up with the dow around the perimeter but pretty pissed off about this whole situation. I should have told them to turn around and come back when they have my silicone.

How is it around the bottom and sides? I would not worry about the top too much. Still it functions as a gasket and only really needs to act as an adhesive when the tanks empty

Aren't sharks supposed to be in oval type tanks or we talking freshwater sharks?
From what ive read oval is best for free swimming sharks as they cant swim backwards. Most benthic sharks can crawl and ussually cram themselves under rocks and get out no problem

Ah didn't know what your stocking man im not really into salt water but i wish you best of luck with this project!

Its the same all the way around.
Thats odd, you will struggle to get that off id imagine. A good strong bead all the way round and I imagine it will be ok. I wonder if the frame is more to prevent point loading on the glass since it holds so well. Hard to say but if it fills and holds you might have to live with it. I am not sure though

Agree i may have to live with it its definately not going to come off. Strange ive read about people using it on forums here and there but nothing more than a year old. I just need to know itll stand the test of time. As long as it bonds to the glass as an adhesive i can live without a perfect seal since i followed up with silicone around the edges of the glass.
