Get a minnow trap, its like a wire round thing that comes apart in the middle the fish can swim in but not out they r not expensive you you can get them from any tackle shop just as for a minnow trap. You can put bait in it and just put a string to a clip thats on it throw it out and tie it to a tree and leave it. You come back in a couple hours and you'll probably have a few little fish. Me and my dad use potted meat in our trap for regular bullhead minnow's for flounder fishing. Just open the can and sit it in there.

I say bowfin, largemouth bass, channel cats, and some big green sunfish. They're all native, so they should be fine for the winter. As for the minnows, do what efchris said, they're really easy to trap. Btw, what are the dimensions on this pond?
