I just picked up another 90g and I want to get a group of 6 Syns to grow out and hopefully get a pair. I'm trying to figure out fast these guys grow?
I know the 90g is too small long term.. I'm just trying to figure out how long before I'd need to upgrade to a 6 foot tank?

I'd say around a year they will be around 6" and you will probably want to upgrade due to conspecific aggression.

quite quick imo, if water is good and feeding twice aday with the odd mid day treat ( live food) my suspected female has grown from 2 inches to about 4.5 inches in about 3 months in a 100 gall witch is quite well stocked.

good luck in getting a pair!

Thanks. Now I'm having no luck finding true syns.. I just called everywhere. lol I found one store with 'gold cheek syns' obviously a hybrid. I posted about them here in december. They still have them. LOL

As soon as I see a pair has formed the remaining 4 will be removed from the tank. I have a lfs willing to take the outcasts.

I found an 8-10 inch Syn in a store I don't normally buy from. Hopefully it's a male. I'm going to go look at it later today.

I would order online but I'm in Canada. Any canadian vendors here? I'll take a look. Thanks.

Well I bought her.. at least I think it's a her and I'm pretty sure she is a Syn. lol She looked pretty drab in the store but I saw some potential. She has already colored up a bit since being put in my tank. She has some nipped fins but nothing major.. she was in a tank with a red terror, red devils and a bunch of huge silver dollars and HUGE Syno's. lol I orginally put her in a 90g with my oscar since the other 90g isn't setup yet but he was beating her down, scales flying so I removed him and my friend has him until I can set the other 90g up and cycle it. I thought they would be ok since she's bigger than he is.. but no... :irked:

Figured I'd post some pics for identification just in case and if she is in fact a she? Not great pics.. but pics none the less. I'm hoping that with good food I can bring out some more color.
