90g tank. Ideas w an Oscar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
but if you are planning for the 90 to be planted you might as well scratch either the stock idea or the planted tank. big cichlids are notorious for tearing up plants as are any type of large 8"+ catfish

Planning on going mostly hornwort and hoping it roots. Cichlids don't eat it. If it works, great! If not who cares, sand and fake plants is just as cool as sand and plants.

As far as 4-6 inches a year on the sun cat I've only found one in captivity over 14, on this site, and he was I think 10 years old.

Yeah I have the same opinion about plants. Also it's not 4"-6" every year. It's like that in the first year and slows down after that. Biggest I've ever seen was 16" and I saw it on google somewhere. It was around 10 years+

Well I currently have a 3 inch tiger Oscar and tinfoil barb in the 90g.

Picked up 2 ebjd fry/juv at about 3/4 inch and growing them out.

I will be ordering a super red/ gold red severum or 2 depending on the size.

After about another month I will order my jaguar catfish to top it off.

*** I understand the full grown stock list will be far far too much for a 90.
